1.Demography, involves age, location, education, and race, they are interested in the same products depending on who your products will benefit them. Marketers are interested in who and what the customers they are serving to are interested in buying. Some interest to who they are selling to would be the age of the customers to see if the product interests them, the generation they were born in and or if they are of profitable need to them. (ex: age, location, race, education, religion, and employment status.
2. Some impact of generation X, Y, baby boomers, and Millennial on today's society, have been what the older generation has grown up with. Today's marketing strategies, are commercial that show what you need and what you want, in later years they did not have TV's this advanced into the future. They are good and bad impacts that have been beneficial and not so much.
3. Technological environmental is so impact because it determines the outcome of what a product is like to other customers, they can determine and speak out if they like the product or do not and it can ruin a company's future or help them.
4. Core beliefs and values are what help to make up a person. They are what they believe in and what they aspire for. it is very important for marketers to tap into this to gain marketing knowledge to better market and tailor their products to specific people Secondary beliefs are not a persons core beliefs but are rather things they care about but are not the center of their world and may have more subtle affects on a persons life.
5. Too much information can cause a problem because it may not be as relevant what you are using it for. 6. Yes, there is secondary data available on no-smoking policies on employees because this has been researched before and is on the web.
7. Using ethnographic research, and observing those around a certain product.
8. Do you like candy?
9. One example of a marketer's promotional strategy for those in different stages of family life, would be to advertise diapers to a woman who just had a baby.
10. Using Maslow's Hierarchy, the shift that needs to be taken is to ensure everyone's safety by getting all patrons to exit the building.
Which flavor of Pringles is most popular in the student center?
This is important to find out because then you can find more flavors to provide and lessen the flavor which is not popular.
We are going to do a survey so that we can see which one is the most popular and which ones they prefer the most, also the primary data approach in which we observe people and their actions in what they are buying and ask a selective group of sophomores what they like and do not like.
The contact method that I am going to use is email or text because it is the easiest way to contact people our age.
The questions are:
-What do you think of the red flavor? -What do you think of the green flavor? -What do you think of the orange flavor? -What do you think is the best flavor? -What other chip would you replace with pringles? -Why do you choose pringles over the other products available? -If you could bring other flavors in what would you pick? -How many cans of pringles do you eat in a week? -Do you eat pringles? -Where do you get your pringles from? Student center or the cafeteria?
4. The sample plan is to interview about two people from each ethnic group, one boy and one girl. We can use this to get an estimate of the whole sophomore grade.
Walmart's corporate office is in Bentonville, Arkansas with the founder being Sam Walton.
Some controversial issues with Walmart are not being able to hold a union, low salaries, and unfair treatment.
The customer lifetime-value of a single Walmart customer is $2,015.
The highest level executives share rooms also to make sure expenses stay as low as possible.
No, I do not think Walmart is good for American jobs and local economies because they are outsourcing and using companies that are elsewhere, not creating anymore jobs here.
Proctor and Gamble's largest customer are Walmart.
Potential customers customers convince Walmart to stock their product by they meet in rooms in Bentonville and persuade the employers.
Some of Walmart's competitors are Target and K-mart.
I would not consider a career at Walmart because I don't live near one.
The information that Walmart keeps about the consumer is every item they have bought and who buys more of what product during which weather pattern.
It is secondary data because it is not collected for any specific purpose.
Data- mine is the practice of examining large databases in order to generate new information.
Target assigns every customer Guest ID number tied to their credit card to gather info about every Target purchase ever.
The products that the woman bought were vitamin supplements, large quantities of lotion, and hand-sanitizers.
Market research is the term that Target used as the computer system.
After they were able to predict a woman pregnant they start sending coupons to the woman relating to babies.
This upset some customers because the father of the woman did not expect his teenage daughter to be pregnant and it made it seem like Target had the wrong intentions. They didn't even tell anyone they were pregnant and it made them feel stalked and it was a little creepy.
Target fixed the problem by they updated their data to customer-selected products that were randomly selected.
I think what Target is doing is a little bit of both, its good business and its a little intrusive at the same time. Instead of predicting what they're going to buy in the future they should focus on selling their customers their best-selling products.
People born between the years 1995 and 2010 are considered a part of Generation Z.
People born in Z1= 2000-2005 and Z2= 2005-2010
Three behavioral traits:
Dependent on technology- where as people of the generations before barely knew technology people of this generation cannot leave their homes without it
tolerant to diverse cultures- This is because our country itself has become more globally connected with the world and now it is easier than ever to access people and culture. It is easier to travel to new places and speak to new people.
Lacking a sense of privacy- because of social networking every moment of peoples' lives are all over the internet.
As a marketer I would sell and promote things that attract people of that age group. I wouldn't market certain things to people of certain ages. Being a marketer means knowing exactly what people are looking for. People are looking for the best ways to save money and giving them deals would certainly help. Market towards the younger age group because they are the ones on the internet the most now.
Gen Z is similar to their parents Gen X because they relate on a more personal level. There wasn't much communication with children of the Gen X with their parents, the Baby Boomers. They are both introduced to new technology and experienced similar political instability.
My favorite commercial was the sun drop one because it was funny but also had the same parts as the real commercials.
I think a good Super Bowl commercial should be something that will stick in your head and you will remember for a while.
Super Bowl commercials are different from regular commercials because there is so much more money spent towards making these commercials. The companies work specifically to make those commercials better.
Cyber Monday is the Monday following thanksgiving that starts the online holiday shopping season.
One theory of cyber Monday is that people walk through the mall on the weekend, see what they want, and shop online to avoid lines and the hassle of shopping in person. Another theory is that people have faster internet at work and wait to go and make their purchases.
People prefer cyber Monday to black Friday because there isn't the hassle of hurrying out after thanksgiving and waiting in the cold on a day meant to be spent on family.
In 2011, the largest amount of sales was the day of Cyber Monday.
In 2011 the sales were, $1.25 billion. In 2012 the sales were, $1.47 billion.
The sales expected for 2013 are up to $2 billion.
Comparing the sales from 2011, 2012, and whats expected of 2013, we can see that our country is slowly getting out of recession. It also shows how much the internet has become useful and that people prefer to shop online rather than shop in person.
42% of consumers scope out deals on Black Friday and plan to shop online on Cyber Monday.
Yes, because eventually people are going to shop online for the benefit of easiness.
Procter & Gamble has sales of 79 billion dollars in revenue and employs 120,000 people around the world.
Procter & Gamble started off selling candles and soap.
Ivory soap was the first flagship brand really launched Proctor & Gamble and put the company in the eyes of American consumers.
Procter & Gamble utilizes the product concept because they are always working on making their product better, otherwise the competitor will take over the market.
1890 was when P&G decided to go public.
P&G values market research so much that they spend $2 billion dollars a year on it. They started off by hiring female college student to go to households and observe women using the products.
Soap Operas came from, soap companies would advertise the most during the Great Depression where people listened to the radio as their only source of entertainment.
"Product X" was Tide, they put massive research into the product. They put 3 boxes of free tide into every washing machine bought.
Procter & Gamble currently has over 300 household products.
In 1991 P&G had to change the logo because people accused them of worshiping the devil.
The debt ceiling is a cap set by Congress on how much the government can borrow in order to pay its debts. The debt ceiling is important to our economy because it keeps us from spending too much money and getting even more in debt. However it can be bad because it keeps us from spending as much as we need to, so there are more restrictions included. If congress fails to raise the debt ceiling paying our bills wont be possible. The debt limit is the funding for the current debt. This allows the government to get more funds to pay off the debt. The current debt limit as of October 2013 is $16.7 trillion. President Obama wants to raise the debt limit because if we don't we wouldn't be able to pay all our bills. It isn't very different in congress for us to raise the debt limit. In total we have raised it 78 times since 1960.I feel that the politicians haven't been doing the best job. They haven't done much to lessen the debt and if anything have increased it. They haven't resolved many crisis and have put us in a bad position for paying bills.
